Urban Livestock & Equine Veterinary Services provides complete medical and surgical services for pet pigs of all sizes: potbelly pigs, miniatures, teacup and micro and every other kind of pet pig. Mobile services are available for pigs, however some surgeries and other anesthetic procedures will need to be performed in our clinic. Therefore, it is important that you have a way of transporting your pet pig if necessary. Even the largest potbellied and miniature pigs (upwards of 200 pounds) can be transported in a large dog kennel. Getting your pig used to handling and restraint ahead of time makes veterinary visits much less stressful.
We provide preventive care for pet pigs including physical examinations and nutrition consultations, vaccinations, hoof trims, tusk trims, and spay and neuter surgeries. We are also available to provide quality medical care if your potbellied or miniature pig becomes ill or injured. The most common problems we see in pet pigs are arthritis and other lameness issues, gastric ulcers or other digestive tract issues, respiratory infections, obesity-related problems, and cancer in unspayed females or intact males.
