Dr. Racheal McKinney has been passionate about working with animals all of her life. She grew up in Waddell, Arizona where her family had a small 2 acre farm. Dr. McKinney fell in love with horses, and by the age of 13 she had gotten her first dun paint mare, joined the local 4H Waddell Hoofprints Club, and had quickly started to learn about hard work and responsibility. She learned how to ride English and Western, and competed at the local, state, and national level. Dr. McKinney attended high school in Goodyear, became very active in the FFA, showed a variety of livestock, competed in many career development events, and traveled with the high school rodeo circuit.
Dr. McKinney attended Arizona State University, where she earned her B.S. in Agribusiness Sciences. She completed veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, where she focused on mixed animal practice and was an active member of Equine Club, Veterinary Business Club, and Bovine Club. Dr. McKinney has completed multiple poultry externships and enjoys working with backyard flocks and producers as well with other fowl producers and breeders. Throughout the past 6 years of practice, Dr. McKinney has become truly passionate about pet pig and goat medicine. Along with this, she has pursued many continued education courses on equine medicine as well as canine and feline medicine. Topics such as quality of life and animal husbandry are very important to Dr. McKinney believes that both are a vital part of owning animals so she is always available to help owners with questions in regards to these areas.
Dr. McKinney currently represents the Arizona Veterinary Medical Board Association as a board member and volunteers with many other clubs and organizations.
Brittany Hall was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. She has been working with animals for over 10 years and loves learning new things. She started in the field as a kennel tech and worked her way up to being a lead surgery technician. Brittany has always had a passion for animals and their health. She has many years working with small animals such as dogs and cats but loves learning all about the large animals. Brittany loves anesthesia and all things dental related. She has worked alongside board certified anesthesiologists, worked at the dental specialist, and enjoys training new employees. Over the past year, Brittany’s passion for working with goats has evolved. Neonatal care and preventative medicine are two key topics she loves to discuss with owners. If Brittany is not working hard alongside the doctors, you can find her at home spending time with her husband, 2 young sons and 3 pets.
Laura Taylor was born in Yuma, Az. Her love of animals started at an early age, as her parents always had dogs. Her Mother, Aunt and Grandfather were involved with Arabian Horses in various ways. She took western riding lessons for four years before getting her own horse at age 14. During the time she had her horse, she entered the competition for the Scottsdale Parada Del Sol rodeo queen and was named one of the queen’s two princesses. Laura worked as a horse groom at various farms for four years. She attended Scottsdale Community College before enrolling in Pima Medical Institute’s Veterinary Assistant course. After working in small animal practice for two years, she took the exams needed to be a Certified Veterinary Technician and passed. She worked first as a technician and then as a receptionist in small animal practices before joining the Urban Livestock team.
Katie was born and raised in Gilbert, AZ. She has been married for 5 years And has 2 handsome little boys. Katie has loved and owned animals her entire life. Her family’s current furry friend is a beautiful husky named Leila! Everyone that meets her just adores and loves her. Katie is very excited to be apart of the Urban family and looks forward to meeting you all in person or chatting away over the phone!
